PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Through facebook my friend invited me to join this cause to support this group in their cause of protecting the lives  and promote the welfare of animals.

They encourage facebook members to sign on their petitions to stop animal cruelty. Here’s two of their petitions:  

Help End The Canadian Seal Slaughter:

About the Petition:

During Canada’s annual seal massacre, hundreds of thousands of baby seals are shot or have their skulls crushed, all for the sake of “fashion.” Sealers routinely hook seals in the eye, cheek, or mouth to avoid damaging the pelt, then drag the seals across the ice, in many cases without checking to ensure that they are unconscious.

Please join us on calling on the Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee to use its clout to help stop the Canadian seal slaughter. A few minutes of your time will make a huge difference for baby seals.

Help End Military Trauma Training on Animals:

About this Petition:

Thousands of healthy animals are abused and killed by the military in trauma and chemical-casualty training exercises every year—even though superior non-animal alternatives are available.

In current training exercises, live pigs are shot, stabbed, and burned; live goats have their legs broken and cut off; and live monkeys are poisoned with harmful chemicals. These barbaric exercises are conducted on many military bases in the U.S. as well as at private contract companies.

The Desired Outcome of this Petition:
The replacement of animals in military trauma and chemical-casualty training exercises with available non-animal methods.

The other day i joined YouSayToo to support a cause to help save the Giant Panda’s in danger these days. The giant panda is one of the most endangered species on the planet and it needs our help.

Donate to Giant Panda Conservation Fund:

The Giant Panda Conservation Fund helps the National Zoo help save giant pandas from extinction by bringing Tian Tian and Mei Xiang to the Zoo, creating a new state-of-the-art exhibit for them, and financing a variety of research projects and other important activities in China and the United States.

This is just one of the animals that needs our support, next time i will also post the needs for tigers, whale and many more. I hope you watch out for it.
